Hi Pastor Bill;
I have special memories of serving with the team at the first Pastors and Leadership Conference in Vizcaino. I remember serving with Rita Smith, Paula Hernandez, Pat Hawton, Keri Goo, and Laura Vitale. I remember the team efforts of setting up for the conference; buying the food locally, preparing and serving of meals 3x’s daily; helping with childcare; meeting and fellowshipping with the families who came to the conference; and sharing a room with a couple who only spoke Spanish and the blessing of praying together with them in the Spirit –
What I remember the most is the power of God and His amazing grace through it all, and how God touched and changed my life by stepping out to go.
I also remember that it was a spriritual battle and sacrifice for me to go, but i was always glad afterward that i did. God blessed me so much. I remember that it was hard for me to go each time, and that i asked people to pray for me, as i was way out of my comfort zone and was fearful.
I’ve been able to go about 5 times, though it’s been a while since i’ve been able to commit to go back –
I remember there were times that were challenging and stretching – and that through those times i learned to grow in my faith and to work together with the team to serve others.
Serving in Mexico reminded me of what it may have been like for Jesus and His disciples living very humbly and meeting with the poor people out in the open land who had very little provisions, yet were hungry to know Jesus and hear Him speak to them.
I will always remember how the people were so thankful that we came and very grateful for what we shared with them. They were hungry to hear God’s word and to get Bibles.
